Mental Health in Early Childhood Education

Presented by local mental health professionals

Early Childhood Educators will have the opportunity to engage with mental health professionals regarding a wide range of topics including childhood trauma that affect many children in our care. These workshops will each be offered individually and not as a whole series.

Workshop #1  How Early Childhood Educators Can Support Children and Families Impacted by Trauma

Presented by: Kelly Henderson, Ph.D.
Formed Families Forward

Trauma and traumatic stress impact 35 million children and youth in the U.S. Young children are particularly vulnerable to the impact of acute and chronic traumas, and families living with systematic stressors such as poverty and discrimination face further hurdles to building resiliency. In this workshop, we will review signs and symptoms of trauma in young children, as well as strategies for supporting children and families at home, school, and other care settings.
