NVAEYC is an affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Our members include over 950 early childhood teachers, family child care providers, parents and other professionals who care about and work to promote the healthy development of young children.
The mission of NVAEYC is to provide excellent educational services, information, and resources to the citizens of Northern Virginia for the benefit of young children. To fulfill its mission, NVAEYC will:
- Act as an advocate for young children and their families;
- Foster professional development of those serving in early childhood settings;
- Recognize and celebrate a variety of developmentally appropriate learning settings for young children; and
- Invite and sustain a thriving and diverse membership.
NVAEYC's Annual Scholarship Program is part of this mission to foster the professional development of those serving in early childhood settings. Research confirms the importance of the early childhood workforce and its impact on children and high-quality child care. This Scholarship Program supports the goal of NVAEYC to have a positive influence on the quality of services rendered young children and their families.
Three categories of scholarships are available: Academic, CDA Assessment, and Training Scholarships. NVAEYC strives to maintain a balance with the Scholarships within the flexibility of funding and how it is distributed to the qualified applicants. When funding permits, the Scholarship Program will award at a minimum one Scholarship per category for Training, CDA Assessment, and Academic (AA, BA/BS, MA/MEd.)
