Leadership is not about age, or the position you hold - but the potential you have to make a difference.
We are pleased to announce that the NVAEYC Emerging Leaders Initiative will begin as a pilot project in the fall of 2008 and is being developed to support and nurture the professional growth and leadership development of dedicated early childhood professionals LIKE YOU!
Through a variety of offerings, such as customized trainings, mentorship, and peer-to peer exchanges, the Emerging Leaders Initiative will provide participating NVAEYC members the opportunity to:
Learn about their leadership potential, identify opportunities for growth, and create a personalized leadership and professional development plan utilizing the NVAEYC Board and Committee structure as a foundation
Gain knowledge, skill building experiences, and the confidence needed to take on leadership roles
Build productive professional networks
Become an active member of the leadership of NVAEYC and the early childhood community
NVAEYC Goals for the Emerging Leaders Initiative:
Build and sustain a new cadre of leaders to champion high quality early childhood programs and services for all young children and their families in Northern Virginia
Improve awareness of NVAEYC and expand member involvement in the design and work of the organization
Develop the NVAEYC membership, Governing Board, and Committees to include constituents of diverse culture, language, race, ethnicity, gender, age, and expertise
Cultivate new and existing partnerships with agencies and organizations in the public and private sectors that work on behalf of children and families and the early childhood community
Discussion groups are being held to seek input on the development of the Emerging Leaders Initiative and we have received excellent and encouraging feedback. We welcome your thoughts and involvement in this new professional development opportunity and look forward to hearing from you.
